Is there any way to ensure that data is displayed in the order it is actually transmitted? I am monitoring an application that communicates between a PC and a peripheral board run by a micro processor. The communication is half duplex, in the sense that the PC sends a message, then the micro responds; there is no case where the two are sending at the same time.

However, on the display, the data is often shown out of sequence, i.e. part of the response is shown before the completion of the outgoing message, which is not possible in real time. The baud rate is 38400 and can't be slowed down; the response time of the micro is very fast, generally under 100 microseconds between receipt of the complete message and beginning its response.

Displaying the data out of sequence makes it very difficult to try to analyze the data. I'm thinking I might have to write a post-processor to analyze the captured data and sort it back into the right sequence.

I am trying to use the DLL to create a custom application in Delphi. The problem is that Delphi can not import variable types. The following can not be used dataBuffer, dataIndex, dataCount, and dataBufferLength; These are the only items that do not work with the dll. I can open, close, start, stop and periodic but I can't read any of the data.

I was wondering a getter and a setter procedure/routine could be added for each one of these so that it can be used with Delphi. I would glady send the code once it is complete for you to attach to your dll download package for users of Delphi.

Thanks,

I just received your ezap device for monitoring rs232 communications.

I plugged it in installed fine.

It works fine if I have low bandwidth communications.

I tested it on an application we have that streams data continuously at 57600 baud and ez view
crashed immediatley with "overflow priority buffer B" is there a fix for this problem ?

This problem does not occur with hyperterminal or other comms monitoring applications that I have. I would like this to work because the timestamping would be very useful to me.

If necessary I ill write my own ap using the DLL but would prefer to avoid this - (can anyone point me to documentation on the DLL/API and its calling conventions etc...)
